Charles Mack Kirby, a dedicated son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 94 on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his home in Cowpens South Carolina. Charles was born on July 21, 1929, in Belmont, North Carolina to his loving parents, Henry C. and Myrtle Pennell Kirby.
Charles was a man of unwavering faith and a joyous spirit. He approached life with a faithful and fun-loving attitude that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile and kind heart brought comfort and happiness to those around him.
addition to his successful career at Drayton Mill, Charles served his country with distinction as a Master Sgt. in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. His selflessness and commitment to duty were evident throughout his military service.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace Linder Kirby, and their son, Charles A. Kirby. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Leaving behind many saddened hearts, Charles will forever be remembered by those closest to him. His memory lives on through his daughter, Denise (Michael) McAbee of Boiling Springs; sons, Buck (Myra) Kirby of Spartanburg; Pete Kirby of Gaffney; Mark (Viki) Kirby of Rutherfordton, NC. Additionally, he is survived by 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A visitation event will be held on July 31, 2023, at Central Baptist Church in Cowpens, South Carolina from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens.
Charles Mack Kirby's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him, but his memory and the impact he made will forever be treasured. He will be remembered as a faithful servant, a beacon of joy, and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
