Charles Edward Jonas, 84, of Chesnee, SC, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He was born, June 3, 1939 in Shelby, NC , the son of the late James Franklin Jonas and Annie Lou Wehunt Jonas.
Charles was a member of the Mt. Zion Tabernacle Church, where he attended for many years.
He was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Charles was a collector of vintage cars, and he had an array of guns. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed reading Western books and loved watching the old western TV shows...Gunsmoke was a favorite. More than anything, Charles loved and cherished his family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Jonas of Chesnee; his daughter, Melissa Floyd (Sean); his grandchildren, Kaila Lawter (Joshua), Chase Floyd (Lauran), Kelsey Mason (Isaac), and Morgan Floyd; his great grandchildren, Finleigh, Micah, Judah, Charleigh, Alivia, Josie Ann and Amelia Kate; and his son-in-law, Rusty Hollifield.
Along with his parents, Charles was predeceased by his daughter, Angie Hollifield and his brother, Lloyd Jonas.
Family will receive friends, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Mt. Zion Tabernacle, 650 Miller Farm Rd., Inman, SC 29349. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. at the church and conducted by The Rev. Kevin Mayfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In honor of Charles service to our country, military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 200 Boiling Springs, SC.
