Charles Michael "Mike" Harris, 64, of 1835 Harrelson Road, Pauline, SC, passed to the other side on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his home, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born April 25, 1946, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Joe Kelly and Florence Jones Harris. Mike was of the independent non-denominational Christian faith. He was a native of Spartanburg County and the owner/operator of Carolina Brass Foundry for 35+ years. A past-president of Roebuck Bass Club, he was also a member of Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Mike played drums for several bands for many years, including, The Checkmates, The Mike Mates, Skylite Band, and Jesters III. He will be remembered as a good husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle, who loved life to the fullest and helped many people. He will be missed by many, including his friends that he loved to fish, hunt, and boat race with, and especially his family that he love and cared for dearly. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara T. Harris of the home; two sons, Michael Earl Harris (Cheremy) of Boiling Springs and Joe C. Harris (Alicia) of Duncan; four grandchildren, Haleigh Belle, Brady, Jerry, and Brad Harris; one sister, Dianna Hope (Russell) of Roebuck; one brother, Pat Harris of Roebuck; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Andy Parker. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Michael Earl Harris, Joe Harris, Russell Hope, David Haddox, Tommy Laster, and Charles Lyles. Members of Roebuck Bass Club and employees of Carolina Brass Foundry will be Honorary Escorts. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
