Charles Grant

Charles Anthony “Tony the Tiger” Grant, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Summit Hills. Born August 22, 1942, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Charles Franklin Grant Jr. and Eva Saylors Grant.

A 1964 graduate of Clemson College, Mr. Grant was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and past-president of Grant’s Textiles, Inc. Mr. Grant served on Clemson University Foundation Board, Charles Lea Center Board, and past member of the Finance Committee at Saint Paul’s Church where he was instrumental in building the Claude Shuler Family Center. He was a member of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturer’s Association and received several patents that aided in modernizing the textile industry.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Mason Grant; sons, Charles Christopher Grant (Edith Ann) of Clinton, SC and Mark Anthony Grant of Cowpens, SC; grandchildren, Charles Christopher Grant II (Lauren) of Greenville, SC and Jaimie Elizabeth Grant of Spartanburg, SC; great-granddaughters, Harrison Elizabeth Hill of Spartanburg, SC and Cecelia Ann Grant of Greenville, SC.

Visitation will be 1:45-2:45 PM Friday, May 14, 2021, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles Lea Center Foundation, 195 Burdette Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
