Charles Harrison "Pete" Glenn, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 7, 1924, in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Harrison Perry Glenn and Ruth Hawkins Glenn. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II he served in the 3rd Infantry in the European theater. Mr. Glenn was retired from Spartan Mills as a textile engineer after 37 years of service. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Agape Sunday School Class, and the commander of the ex-POW Chapter in Spartanburg, SC. A graduate of Clemson Class of 1948, he was also an avid fisherman, Clemson football, and auto-racing fan. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving is his beloved wife of 60 years, Julia Rosalyn Steinmeyer Glenn; children, Becky Hawkins (Tom) of Spartanburg, SC, Jenny Glenn of Rock Hill, SC, and Charles "Chuck" Harrison Glenn, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Will Hawkins of Spartanburg, SC, Andrew Hawkins (Ali) of Cullowhee, NC, and Cory Hawkins of Spartanburg, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joe Malcolm Glenn. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Monday, April 15, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tom Hawkins.
