Charles Wesley Gilliam, 99, of Inman, SC died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Wesley Court Assisted Living, Boiling Springs. Born July 27, 1921 in Roebuck, SC he was the son of the late Rosa Belle McSwain and Bobo Barm Gilliam, and husband of the late Lottie Keller Gilliam. A U.S. Army WWII veteran, Mr. Gilliam founded Central Tire and Wheel in Gaffney, SC. He loved living on the lake, going to church, bird watching and traveling. He was a Hejaz Shriner for 70 years. Mr. Gilliam was a very social person who loved people. He attended Lake Bowen Baptist Church and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Norman Gilliam (Bobbie) of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandson, Wesley Gilliam (Lee) of Taylors, SC; great-granddaughter, Isla Gilliam; step-great-grandson, Eli Hancock; brothers, John Vernon Gilliam and Jerry Gilliam; sister, Clara Dillard, and beloved caregiver Sandy Cochran. He was predeceased by siblings, Max, Boyd, Nathaniel, Lucille, Frances, and Edith. Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, February 5, 2021 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by The Rev. John Cox and The Rev. Brad Adkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Bowen Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 404 Sugar Ridge Road, Inman, SC 29349.
