Charles Duemmling

Charles Walter Duemmling, 83, of Spartanburg, passed into God's hands Monday, October 17, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home leaving behind his loving wife of 62 years, Dottie (Dorothy) C. Duemmling. Born in Methuen, MA, May 16, 1928, he was the only child of the late C. W. and Mary Duemmling and was a U. S. Air Force veteran. A retired architect from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he was a founding partner in the firm of Bywaters and Duemmling, Architects for over 30 years. He had received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1954 from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He was a member and lay reader at Skylyn United Methodist Church. He enjoyed daily walking, lap swimming with his buddies at the Swim Center, writing, and a fine artist who taught a weekly watercolor class at the Shepherd's Center until recently. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his spouse's niece and great nieces, Sharon OBlack (John), Janet Swank (Smitty), Kris Cook (Tim), all of West Newton, PA; and great nephew, Ken Melton (Jane) of CT; also a cousin, Barbara Morley (Bob) of MA; plus several great-great nieces and nephews. Services and committal will be at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, PA, Saturday, October 29, 2011, by Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Scottdale, PA. A memorial service in Spartanburg will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skylyn United Methodist Church, 1415 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Spartanburg Humane Society Spay/Neuter Fund, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
