Charles Compton

Charles Quenten Compton, 85, of Inman, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 29, 1924, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Judson and Millie Painter Compton and the husband of the late Barbara Ann Butler Compton. He was the former co-owner of Cedar Lane Bait and Toy Ranch, a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent, and a U.S. Army Veteran, having received a Purple Heart. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009, at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Susan Perrin and the Rev. Donald Chapman. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
