Charles "Charlie" Richard Brown

Charles “Charlie” Richard Brown, 90, of Spartanburg passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Charlie was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the son of the late William Edward Brown and the late Minnie Alice Crouse Brown. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers.

Charlie attended North Carolina State and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He also served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed building Radio Controlled Airplanes and flying them as well. He also was an accomplished downhill snow skier. He had his private pilot license and was a skilled pilot.

Survivors are his wife: Betty P. Brown; two stepdaughters: Kelly Gilliam (Brian) and Kim Muzika (Eddie); four step grandchildren: Sloan Gilliam (Amanda), Will Muzika (Whitley), Anna Dvorak (Ben), and Emma Grace Alexander (Dylan); Three precious step great grandchildren: Mika, Brooks, and Turner.

A private graveside service to honor Charlie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Green Pond Cemetery, 798 Chicken Foot Creek Rd, Woodruff, SC 29388. Rev. Tommy Sparks will officiate the service.

The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
