Charles Chambers

March 23, 1929 — June 5, 2015

Charles Frank Chambers, 86, of Spartanburg, SC passed away with his loving family by his side on June 5, 2015. Born in Kannapolis, NC, on March 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank and Janie Chambers. Mr. Chambers served as a sergeant in the Army Infantry Division in Germany supporting the Korean conflict prior to entering N.C. State College where he graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He worked as a Registered Engineer for 31 years before retiring from Fluor Daniel Engineering in 1993. He was a faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Treasurer for many years. He was a 60 year Master Mason, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason and member of the American Legion-Post 28. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer and deep sea fisherman, and most enjoyed time with his family. Surviving are the love of his life, wife Cora Mae Chambers; sons, Charles "Chuck" F. Chambers, Jr. (Lynn) of Roebuck, SC; Brian K. Chambers (Bobbie) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Brandi Davis (Stephen) of Greenwood, SC; great-grandson, Noah Davis; sisters, Shirley Chambers of Rockwell, NC; Polly Carriker of Concord, NC; and sister-in-law, Joan Barnhardt of Spartanburg, SC. A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, June 8, 2015 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 800 W.O. Ezell Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by the Rev. Robert Brozina. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.O. Ezell Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
