Charles Carroll

Charles Carroll, 71, of 151 Waterford Drive, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his home. Born September 3, 1938 in Dunn, NC, he was the son of the late Clifford E. and Laura Sauls Carroll. Mr. Carroll received a BS degree from Wofford College and a MS degree from the University of Tennessee and retired from Milliken and Company after 39 years of service. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Spartanburg, he attended Spartanburg First Wesleyan Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda C. Carroll; a step-son, the Rev. John R. Gilliland and wife Tracy of Pensacola, FL; a step-daughter, Jill G. Raborn of Richlands, NC; five step-grandchildren, Nichole and Robbie Gilliland and John Michael, Hunter and Katie Raborn; two sisters, Anne C. Mathis and husband Frank of Spartanburg and Helen C. Read and husband Tom of Warrenton, VA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jewel Timmons Carroll; a sister, Sue Riddle; and brothers, Robert Carroll and Larry Carroll. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Gary Long and the Rev. Raymond Shreve. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, P. O. Box 160536, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
