Charles Harrison Bullington, 83, of Spartanburg, died Monday, November 23, 2009, at RoseCrest. Born March 4, 1926, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Rev. Thomas Earl and Nellie Harrison Bullington. He was the retired Assistant Executive Director of the Spartanburg Housing Authority. He was a charter member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was elected Deacon Emeritus. He was a devoted Sunday School teacher for 50 years. He was a founder of the Westview-Fairforest Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief for 25 years. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Marie Arms Bullington; two sons, Michael Watson Bullington and his wife Carole H. of Columbia, and David Charles Bullington and his wife Vickie of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Eric Bullington and his wife Kirsten, and Lisa Bullington, all of Columbia, Charlie Bullington and his wife Wendy of Hanahan, and Meredith Bullington and her fianc Matthew Fisher of Spartanburg; great-grandchildren, Rowan Mae Bullington of Columbia, Elias Charles and Lucas David Bullington of Hanahan, and an expected great-grandson, Darwin Michael Bullington; his sister-in-law, Thelma Hottel and her husband Rev. David Hottel of Stafford, VA. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas Earl Bullington, Jr., Rev. J. Edward Bullington, and William Haskell Bullington; and a sister, Gwen Williamson. Mrs. Bullington will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at her home, 321 Willis Road, Spartanburg. Visitation with family will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. D. J. Horton and the Rev. Kevin Harrison. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bob Jolley, Bobby Wilder, Ray Caruso, Joe Bullington, Tom Bullington, and Darrel Bullington. Honorary Escort will be present and former Deacons and wives, and members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, "The Time is Now Building Fund", 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369.
