Cephas Hand, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2024, in Laurens, SC. Born on July 18,1937, in Valley Falls, SC, to the late, Clyde Hand, Della "Polly" Chapman Hand. Cephas devoted over 16 years of his life to the U.S. Navy, serving his country with honor and loyalty.
Cephas attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College in Hendersonville, NC. He attended Cross Hill First Baptist Church for over 30 years where he received his ordination as a Minister and served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Through warmth and kindness, he never met a stranger. Cephas made sure that everyone he encountered knew his friend, Jesus. He was a man of deep faith and lived a life dedicated to God.
Above all else, Cephas cherished his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to LaRue M. Hand, who stood by his side. Loving father to his daughters, Teresa Lowe and Trish Heatherington (Brian); grandfather to eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Cephas leaves behind a sister named Margaret "Susie" Hollifield. Preceded in death by first wife, Patricia Hand.
A visitation will be held on January 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 SC-9 N., Spartanburg, SC 29316.
A funeral service will take place at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, with burial at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Highway 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Fleming, Rev. Curtis Marshall, and Mr. Dwight Crisp.

Cephas Hand touched the lives of countless individuals through his unwavering faith and genuine compassion. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire us all to live our lives with grace and unwavering faith in God.
