Cecil Oliver Stevens, of Pauline, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Piedmont Living Center in Greer. Born March 4, 1931, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Paul Oliver and Elizabeth Coggins Stevens. He attended Pauline schools and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He loved to photograph nature, enjoyed fishing, and loved his family and his Lord. Survivors include two sisters, Nancy Johnson and her husband Harold of Roebuck, and Thelma Chism and her husband Mel of Spartanburg; five brothers, James Albert Stevens and his wife Janice of Union, Leon Stevens of Spartanburg, Ronald Stevens and his wife Janet of Enoree, Leonard "Joe" Stevens, and Bobby Dean Stevens and his wife Marie, all of Woodruff; and nieces and nephews, Joan Gilbreath, Heather Trainer, Matt Gilreath, Wayne Johnson, Joel Johnson, Shannon Stevens, Roger Stevens, Scott Stevens, Sherry Stevens, Stacy Stevens, Honesty Martin, and Clif Stevens. He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Gilreath Boatwright; and a niece, Sheila Stevens. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Friendship Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Norman Philbeck. Burial will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shannon Stevens, Clif Stevens, Wayne Johnson, Joel Johnson, Butch Green, Buddy Greene, Sam Trainer, and Hugh Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
