Cecil Chastain

Cecil Edward Chastain, 79, of Spartanburg, died Friday morning, May 14, 2010, at White Oak Estates. Born August 15, 1930, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Marty and Minnie Chastain. He was married to his loving wife, Nancy Shropshire, for 57 years. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese with 20 years of service, a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of River Hills Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Joy Jay (Graylin); a grandson, Trevor Jay (Kara); and a granddaughter, Ashleen Jay. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He was predeceased by two sons, Russell Edward and David Cecil Chastain. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. C. Kent Smith.
