Cathy Bailey

Cathy Bailey, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Gatesville, TX, entered into her eternal reward on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born on October 1, 1956, she was the eldest daughter of Virginia Anne Chandler Barnard and the late William Edward “Ed” Barnard.

Cathy married Steven Ray Bailey on May 1, 1993 in Spartanburg. Steve preceded her in death on December 26, 2018.

Cathy was retired from Spartanburg Regional Health System where she worked for 30 years as a certified respiratory therapist and later as a registered neurodiagnostic technologist, supervisor. She was an avid music lover, enjoyed crafting, and loved animals, especially her two pets, Billy and Tiboo. Cathy was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Survivors include her sisters, Vickie Shaeffer (Leslie) of Panama City, FL; Deanna Pauley (Mark) of Gatesville, TX; special family friends J.B. “Uncle Jake” Cooper (Cathryn) of Gatesville, TX; stepsons Doug Bailey (Rena’), Greg Bailey, and Lee Bailey (Stephanie), six grandchildren, nine nephews, and four nieces.

Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Mark United Methodist Church 3055 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Major.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3055 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, or Live Oak Baptist Church, 113 FM107, Gatesville, TX 76528.

The family would like to express their special thanks to the Cardiovascular Recovery Unit (CVRU) at Spartanburg Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion.
