Catherine "Cathy" Dunnaway

Catherine George Dunnaway, 78, of Pacolet, SC, died Saturday, January 8, 2022 at her home. Born November 23, 1943 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Scott Ozell and Hazel Davis George, and the widow of Jackie Odean Dunnaway.

A Class of 1962 graduate of Pacolet High School, she also was a graduate of North Greenville Jr. College and Limestone College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Management. Cathy graduated South Carolina Bankers School at USC-Columbia. She became an Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager to First Citizens Bank, where she retired, after 32 years of service and then worked part-time as the cashier for the Town of Pacolet. Cathy loved to bowl and was a member of the Star Lane bowling league.

Survivors include her children, Johnna D. Quinn and Amy D. Garner (Tim), all of Pacolet, SC, her grandchildren, Leah Quinn Emory (Jonathan), Amber Garner, Andrea Garner Gordon (Corey), all of Pacolet, SC, great grandchildren, Jackson Emory and Regan Emory, her sisters, Patsy Crocker (Bill) and Pearl Abernathy (Wilford), and her fur baby, Buddy. Along with her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Amber Coleen Dunnaway, and her son in law, Dean Quinn.

Visitation will be at 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. Committal will be in the chapel. Private graveside service will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
