Catherine Stroupe

Catherine Paschal Stroupe, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born January 19, 1928, in Goldston, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Gilbert Paschal and Sophia Killen Paschal. She was married to the late Bruce Wilton Stroupe for 61 years. Mrs. Stroupe was a charter member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church where she was head of the Altar Guild for many years. She attended Furman University, was an avid Bridge player, and also volunteered for Mobile Meals Service. Survivors include three sons, W. Bruce Stroupe (Meg) of Spartanburg, SC, Gilbert E. Stroupe (Mary) of Forsyth, GA, and Randy P. Stroupe (Kelly) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Brandon Stroupe (Sallye), Susan Stroupe, Karen Stroupe, Catherine Cappiello (Tory), Allen Stroupe (Mackenzie), Erin Doetch (Josh), and Stephanie Stroupe; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William Paschal (Sylvia) of Lillington, NC; sister-in-law, Frankie McNeill of Murrells Inlet, SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters and brother, Janie Thaxton (Ben), Frank Paschal (Eliza), and Martha Layland (Francis). Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, April 21, 2016, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 400 Dupre Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Jim Trimble and the Rev. Fergie Horvath. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
