Catherine Smith

Catherine Vise Smith, 92, a resident of the Inverness of Spartanburg went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2017. She was a native of the Walnut Grove community of Roebuck, a daughter of the late Jessie and Augusta Garrett Vise and the widow of John Dupree "J.D." Smith. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Roebuck High School. She had been a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church since her marriage to her late husband, J.D. Smith. In her early years, she helped with the younger children's Sunday School Department. She was retired from Enro Shirt Factory in Woodruff. Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Rhoads (Butch) of Moore, Dianne Howard (Jerry) and Connie Graham (Harold) both of Pauline; son, Randy Smith (Rita) of Franklin, KY. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Scott Howard (Carla), Jason Howard, Dr. Toni Rhoads Neal, Travis Rhoads (Major U.S. Army Retired), Kelli Smith (Chad), Dr. Stacy Graham (Heidi), Kristi Steele (Jamie), Tracy Smith, and Jonathan Smith; fifteen great grandchildren; and brother, Charles Vise (Marie) of Roebuck. She was also predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Lily Rebekah Smith; brother, James Vise; and a sister, Lorraine Zimmerman. Visitation will be 12:30 - 1:30 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church, 830 Friendship Church Rd, Pauline, SC 29374. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Chris Collins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as the pallbearers. The family wishes to express special thanks to Mary Hill Black for the love and care she gave our Mother. She became a part of our family.
