Catherine Morrison

Catherine Jeanette Pierce Morrison, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 21, 1939 in Chesterfield County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Emsey and Cindy Tarlton Pierce, and widow of Rev. Daniel Angus Morrison, Jr. Mrs. Morrison was a registered nurse, retiring after 35 years of service from St. Francis Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of the Altar Guild and Care Committee, and the H. F. Chreitzberg Sunday School Class. Survivors include her children, Daniel Richard Morrison (Carolyn) of Piedmont, SC, Martin Dale Morrison (Beverly) of Liberty, SC, Cindy Marie Johnson (Steve) of Inman, SC, and Dana Catherine Morrison of Campobello, SC; five grandchildren, Christy Rabon (George), Brandon Chase Morrison, Heather Morrison Haney (Josh), Richard Morrison, and Caitlyn Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Brooke and Dustin Rabon, Landon, Aubrey and Jordan Morrison; sisters, Elaine Danaher of Orlando, FL, Evelyn Purdue of Patrick, SC, and Patricia Brigman of Hartsville, SC; and brothers, Rev. Danny Pierce (Wanda) and Billy Pierce (Jackie), all of Hartsville, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers and sister, Albert Pierce, Christine Miles, and Emsey "Buddy" Pierce. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Friday, August 29, 2014, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. David Smith and Rev. Dave Nichols. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Honorary escorts will be retired ministers and spouses as well as members of the H. F. Chreitzberg Sunday School Class.
