Catherine Lawrence

Catherine Moon Lawrence, 91, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home. Born February 24, 1922, in Whitney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Mauldin Marion Moon and Laura Bennett Moon and widow of Paul Henry Lawrence. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Lawrence was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and retired from Belk Hudson Department Store at Hillcrest Shopping Center with over 20 years of service. Surviving is her daughter, Wanda Kay Lawrence Steele (Chip) of Spartanburg, SC; three grandsons, Greg Steele (Wendy), Eric Royaards (Blythe), and John Steele III (Jody); seven great-grandchildren; special daughter, Teresa Snyder Stockdale; and special friend, Kaylene Wilber. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Royaards-Huey. Visitation will be 2:30-3:30 PM Friday, April 19, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand and the Rev. Randell D. Blackman Sr. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at the home of Wanda and Chip Steele, 583 Old Iron Works Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
