Catherine Hudson

Catherine Rhodes Hudson, 85, of 434 Rolling Pines Lane, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born December 1, 1923, in Enoree, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Marion and Liddie Gentry Rhodes and the wife of the late George Wesley Hudson. She received her Nursing Diploma from Chicago School of Nursing in 1943 and continued home healthcare for many years in the Spartanburg area. Mrs. Hudson was an avid reader and continued throughout her years as a dedicated nurturer and caregiver for her family. She is survived by two sons, Phillip W. Hudson and life partner Michael W. Newman of the home, and Robert "Tommy" Hudson and wife Jan of Moore; six grandchildren, James W. Hudson, Jr. and Autumn M. Hudson, both of Campobello, Tamanny K. Cartee of Woodruff, John M. Hudson of Moore, Rebecca H. Stevens and Wesley A. Hudson, both of Spartanburg; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her oldest son, James Wesley Hudson. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Donna Stroud. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Memorials may be made to the Soup Kitchen, c/o Second Presbyterian Church, 438 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
