Carson Childress

Carson Hicklin Childress, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at his home. Born October 10, 1942, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late George Washington Childress and Bessie Mae Bishop Childress. Mr. Childress was the owner of Childress Auto Service and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeanette Upton Childress; special beloved son and his wife, Darryl Childress (Tammy) of Spartanburg, SC; special grandchildren, Ashley Childress McDaniel (Matt) of Forest City, NC, and Christopher Childress (Julie) of Spartanburg, SC; and sisters, Annis Poole of Spartanburg, SC, Viola Blackwood and Tilda Holcomb, both of Boiling Springs, SC. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Upton, the Rev. Allan Blanton, and the Rev. Bobby McFalls. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 126 East Church Street, Cowpens, SC 29330.
