Carroll E. Tipton

Carroll Edward Tipton, 87, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. A native of Boiling Springs, he was born on February 26, 1937, a son of the late Sam J. and Pauline Bessie Harmon Tipton.

Carroll worked in the grocery industry all his life with A & P food stores, Bi-Lo Markets and Ingles Supermarkets and did a lot of travel for these companies setting up their produce departments as new stores opened. Carroll retired in late 1990’s and lived on the eastside of Spartanburg. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and enjoyed going to church on Sundays until his health started to fail and he could not drive to services. Carroll then watched Sunday services online which he enjoyed so much. Carroll missed the interaction with his Sunday School Class members and attending service in the sanctuary. Please keep Carroll’s family and friends in your prayers.

He was predeceased by his siblings, John E. Tipton, Horace E. Tipton, Leon Tipton, Betty Smith and Lois Tipton.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 am Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Brian Redding. Burial will follow in the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery, Boiling Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
