Carrie Kirby

Carrie Jean Kirby, 80, loving wife and dedicated mother, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at McCall Hospice House. Born February 21, 1935, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Helen Petty. Mrs. Kirby was a retired loan officer from First Citizens Bank and was a member of Pacolet First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by a son, Donnie Kirby (Joan) of Pacolet, SC; granddaughters, Taylor Kirby of Pacolet, SC; Charla Tippin-Smith (Kenneth) of Taylors, SC; a great granddaughter, Loralai Smith of Taylors, SC; a brother, Paul Petty (Phyllis) of Spartanburg, SC. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Lee Kirby; a brother, Fred Petty; and a sister, Mary "Baby Sis" Hawkins. She is also survived by special friends and caregivers who were like sisters, Joan Mull, Sarah McKelvey, Peggy Phillips, Cathy Dunaway, Carolyn Worthy, and Kay Peeler. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Pacolet First Baptist Church, 310 W. Main St., Pacolet, SC 29372, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Sparks. Burial will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family will receive friends following the burial at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372.
