Carolyn Steadman

Carolyn Joyce Lyles Steadman, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born October 11, 1933, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Luther and Essie Mae Tessner Lyles, and widow of Billy Joe Steadman. Mrs. Steadman was a member of Drayton United Methodist Church (now Skylyn United Methodist Church) where she enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in all church activities, especially the United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and formerly employed in the Inventory Control Office at Spartan Mills Corporate Office. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy S. Bush (Mark) and Vicki S. Calvert (Dennis), all of Spartanburg, SC; son, Dennis A. Steadman (Patsy) of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren, Melissa Coy, Caroline Bush, and Amanda Snipes; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Snipes and Colson Snipes; sister-in-law, Peggy Steadman; a very special little friend, Kelsea Nodine; and special friend, Herman Bishop. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Rodney R. Steadman; and brother, James Fred Lyles. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. James B. Carter. Memorials may be made to White Oak Manor Activity Fund, 295 East Pearl Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home of Patsy and Dennis Steadman, 108 Loche Adele Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
