Carolyn Pierson

Carolyn Kennedy Pierson, 72, of Spartanburg, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 1, 1941, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Benjamin Kennedy and Laura Epps Kennedy. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Carolyn and her family lived in Snohomish, Washington for 31 years, a total of 47 years in Washington State, and relocated back to Spartanburg three years ago. She and her husband were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in September. Mrs. Pierson was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Spartanburg, SC, and the former Free Methodist Church of Snohomish, WA. She was the loving mother to Richard Pierson of Everett, WA, and Jennifer McHaney and husband, Robert, of Austin, TX. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by two brothers, Frank Steven Kennedy and his wife Deborah of Duncan, SC, and Douglas Ray Kennedy of Vancouver, Washington; and two sisters, Sandra Kennedy Dalton and her husband Wayne of Boiling Springs, SC, and Donna Kennedy Boiter and her husband Martin of Lyman, SC. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a sister, Joan Kennedy Hunt. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Frank Lybrand. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In remembrance of Mrs. Pierson, memorials may be made to The Bethlehem Center, 397 Highland Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
