Carolyn Lamm

Carolyn O'Shields Lamm, 83, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born April 11, 1929, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Paul Bryan and Ada Louise Pettit O'Shields. Carolyn was retired from the SC School for the Deaf & Blind after 30 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. An avid reader and home decorator, she traveled the USA extensively; loved her family, church, and Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Converse College and Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee. Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Barnett (Robert) of Spartanburg, SC; brother-in-law, R. A. Taylor of Lexington, SC; nieces and nephew, Deborah Ramsey of Spartanburg, SC, Alton Keith Taylor of Landrum, SC, Karen Lynn Elliott of Sandy, UT, and Kathy Barnett Hines of Huger, SC; five great-nieces; and one great-nephew. She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Elaine Hyatt; and sisters, Sarah Frances Bailie and Margaret Ann Taylor. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Sal Barone. Visitation will follow at the graveside. The family requests no flowers please, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
