Carolyn Rhodes Stripling Jolly, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away in peace on Good Friday, April 18, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 1, 1949, in Gainesville, FL, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert Olin and Dorothy Claire Atkinson Stripling. Carolyn graduated from the University of South Carolina and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was actively involved in many community organizations and clubs, volunteering much of her time throughout her life. Carolyn was a devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent, served on the Altar Guild, and was active in the ECW. She was a member of The First Wednesday Study Club, The Book and Garden Club, The Spartanburg Garden Club, and was a Certified Master Gardener. Carolyn was a sustaining member of The Junior League of Spartanburg, and The Debutante Club of Spartanburg. She also belonged to The National Society Magna Charta Dames, The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of South Carolina, Sagent, The Wednesday "Sistahs", and The Crescent. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Albert Bailey Jolly, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Elizabeth Claire Rhodes Jolly Neely and her husband Scott Jackson Neely of Spartanburg, SC and their children, Benjamin Jackson Neely and Anne Rhodes Neely; daughter, Catherine Anne Hollingsworth Jolly Faris and her husband John Paschal Faris III of Spartanburg, SC and their children, Elizabeth Grace Faris and Warren Bailey Faris; brother, Robert Olin Stripling, Jr. and his wife Sylvia A. K. Stripling of Gainesville, FL; and nephews, Robert Scott Stripling, Clifford Britt Stripling, and John William Stripling. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 141 Advent St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. J. Edward Morris and the Rev. Stephen Y. McGehee. Entombment will be in the Episcopal Church of the Advent Cleveland Bell Tower Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve, PO Box 2337, Spartanburg, SC 29304, or The SRHS Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will receive friends at the home on Monday, April 21, 2014, after 4:00 PM.
