Carolyn Sweeney Hunt, of White Oak Estates, Spartanburg, quietly passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Eugene F. Hunt, and the daughter of the late George W. Sweeney and Pauline "Polly" Nelson Sweeney. Mrs. Hunt was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, graduated from Spartanburg High School, and was previously employed by Wallace Hunt Furniture Company as an interior decorator. She was well known for her excellent decorating skills, receiving several honors in the field. Her biggest joys were caring for her husband and sons, as well as enjoying her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Edward "Ed" E. Hunt of Hoschton, GA; five grandchildren, Ashley Hunt Kirkland of Suwanee, GA, Bryan E. Hunt of Atlanta, GA, Scott Hunt of Columbia, SC, Brett Hunt (Shannon) of Pickens, SC, and Angie H. Crinson; two great-grandchildren, Michael Brockington and Easten Rese-Hunt; daughters-in-law, Martha L. Hunt (Ed) and Sharon M. Hunt (widow of Don); sister-in-law, Gertrude Hunt Leuck; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald W. Hunt of Pickens, SC; brother, Jerry W. Sweeney; and a sister, Celia Sweeney Cratin. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 155 Deacon Tiller Court, Duncan, SC 29334. The family thanks the staff of White Oak Skilled Nursing, as well as, Interim Healthcare Hospice for their excellent care over the past months.
