Carolyn Grinnell

Carolyn Engler Grinnell, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born February 10, 1935 in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred Engler. Her husband, Benjamin Ray Grinnell, preceded her in death. Carolyn was a member of the United Methodist Church. She loved her granddaughter, Isabella, immensely and her cats brought her much delight and affection. An avid football and basketball fan, her favorite teams were the Carolina Panthers, the Florida Marlins, and Wofford College. Survivors include daughter, Natalie Grinnell of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Gretchen Bogacz and son-in-law Peter Bogacz of Sarasota, FL; granddaughter, Isabella Bogacz; twin sister, Trudy Bacome and younger sister, Nancy and brother-in-law Buck Abner, all of Hamilton, OH; nieces Linda Cole, Beth Rapp, and Rebekah Abner; and of course, her beloved pet cats, Leia and Spike. Interment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
