Carolyn Elmore

Carolyn Dillard Elmore, 85, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Summit Hills. Born August 31, 1935 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lottie Davis Dillard and Oren W. Dillard and widow of Roland Goff Elmore Jr. after 57 years of marriage.

A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Elmore was the former owner of Carolyn’s Bridal and Formal Shoppes in Spartanburg and Greenville for 25 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling abroad with her late husband. After retirement, she assisted her husband with his business “Fabric & Yarn Associates” for a number of years. A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, she loved her Lord and family.

Survivors include her brother, William Dillard, of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Faye D. Dickson of Inman, SC; nieces, Josie Elmore, Lynn Mizzell, Kelly Dickson, Ashley Thomas, and Chelsea Marino; nephews, Steve Smith , Joey Dillard and Brian Dillard, and sisters-in-law, Georgia Elmore, Jean Smith, and Michele Dillard. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ned Dillard and Wesley Dillard; sister-in-law, Linda Dillard, and brothers-in-law, Alvin Dickson, Carroll Elmore and George Smith.

Funeral services, with committal inside, will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. John L. Warren, Jr. Visitation following in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, PO Box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s, and staff on the assisted living unit at Summit Hills, for all their love and support of Carolyn and the family during this past pandemic year. The family would also like to extend a very special “thanks” to Diane, Vera, Mary Susan, Jean, Mechell, Paola, Olga, and Kathleen for their continual love and support during this extended period of illness.
