Carolyn Louise Sanders Coates, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at White Oak Manor. Born April 1, 1923, in Landrum, SC, she was the daughter of the late David E. B. Sanders Sr. and Louise Jones Sanders, and widow of Guy Marshall "Buster" Coates. Mrs. Coates was a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church and retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after 35 years of service. Survivors include her son, Sandy Coates (Janie) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Mark Coates (Nikki) of Cooley Springs, SC, Amy Manley (Terry) of Simpsonville, SC, Ron Crisp (Tracy) of Fountain Inn, SC, and Amanda McSwain of Mauldin, SC; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, David E. B. Sanders Jr. (Pat) of Lavonia, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Sanders of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend forever, Ruby Pagano of East Brunswick, NJ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Lyles W. Sanders; and sisters, Gwen Gosnell and Wilma Barton. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM in Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Darrell McNeill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont United Methodist Church, 687 North Liberty Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
