Caroline Spencer Keaton, 100, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, October 3, 2022 at Skylyn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 15, 1922 in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late B.G. and Pearl Spencer and was the wife of the late Earle Raymond Keaton.
Caroline was a longtime secretary at Central United Methodist Church, along with the church circle and the quilting group. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed golfing, quilting, and being a volunteer with Mobile Meals.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Keaton Turnage of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law, Margaret Keaton of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Ernest Eugene Giddens II (Zoe), Gary Keaton, Earle R. “Chip” Keaton, III (Kerry), and Jennifer Turnage Voelp (Tim); numerous great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was also predeceased by her son, Earle Raymond “Rusty” Keaton Jr., granddaughter, Josie Turnage, and her brother, Gary Spencer.
A Memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Central United Methodist Church Chapel, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306, conducted by The Rev. Cameron Y. Treece. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Oakland Cemetery, College Drive, Gaffney, SC 29340.
