Carol Hogan

Carol Wilson McGuire Hogan, 82, of Spartanburg, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born October 1, 1929, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter D. Wilson, Sr. and Nellie Ruth McGuinn Wilson. A devout Christian and member of Clifton First Baptist Church, Carol was devoted to her family, loved yard sales and making crafts. She was retired from Flowers Bakery and Wal-Mart. Surviving are her son, Robert E. McGuire, Sr. and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Kenneth E. Lawing, Jr., R. Todd Lawing, Matthew A. McGuire, Lisa McGuire Kerns, Robert E. McGuire, Jr., Michael R. Howell, and Richard A. Howell; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Wilson, Wayne Wilson, JoAnn Creel, Mary Wilson, and Margaret Epton. She was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie Kay Lawing; sister, Kathleen Wilson Stepp; and brothers, Walter D. Wilson, Jr., A. C. Wilson, and Earl Wilson. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Shane Dismuke. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clifton First Baptist Church, PO Box 135, Clifton, SC 29324; or Children's Miracle Network, Greenville Hospital System, CMN-ISC, 701 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
