Carlos Delatorre

Carlos Manuel Delatorre, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at White Oak Estates-Spartanburg. Born February 8, 1930, in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of the late Carlos Manuel de la Torre y Gonzalez-Llorente and Juana Alcoz de la Torre. Carlos was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and an officer in the Knights of Columbus. He received a Law Degree from the University of Havana in 1953 and a Master of Arts Degree from Middlebury College in 1972. He was employed as a Spanish teacher and soccer coach at Spartanburg Day School 1967-1986 and taught at Chesnee High School 1986-1992. Surviving is his wife, Margarita Abuin Delatorre; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, by The Rev. David R. Whitman. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
