Carl Wright Jr.

Carl "Buddy" Wright, Jr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 10, 1928, in Arcadia, SC, he was the son of the late Eben Carlton Wright and Cora Jones Wright. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A SC Army National Guard member, Mr. Wright retired from Christman and Parsons and was a longtime employee of General Supply. He was a butcher for Powell's Grocery in Clifton, SC and began his working career in the textile industry at Clifton Mills #2. He was also a member of Clifton Second Baptist Church, the Men's Bible Class, and former choir member. Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Sarah Frances Willis Wright; children, Terri Putman (Mitchell) of Cowpens, SC, Carolyn Hinds of Roebuck, SC, and Ronnie Wright (Myra) of Spartanburg, SC; one granddaughter, Susan Jolly (Dennis) of Cowpens, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Caroline. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Wardlaw, and Kenneth Wright; and sisters, Desmer Brown, Thelma Burnett, Audrey Hughey, Zellon Donald, Bina Gallman, and two infant sisters. Visitation will be 1:30-3:15 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Stubblefield and the Rev. David Moore. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
