Carl Rogers

March 4, 1926 — December 3, 2013

Carl Thurman "Satch" Rogers, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Greenville Health System. Born March 4, 1926, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Vandiver Wylie and Willie Jane Bailey Rogers. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Rogers served on the USS Garfield Thomas. He attended Rosemont Baptist Church in Waterloo, SC, loved to fish, was a member of American Legion Post 100, a Mason, and a Shriner. Survivors include his sons, Chuck Rogers of Asheville, NC, Brent Rogers (Nina) of Mill Spring, NC; daughters, Sandy Bradley (David) and Lynn Flynn (Jim), all of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law, Nancy Rogers; 10 grandchildren, including his best friend and caregiver, Lori McPeak; multiple great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Tommy Rogers. Visitation for Carl Thurman "Satch" Rogers, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, will be 12:30-1:15 PM, Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Floyd's N. Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 100, 21 Higgins Drive, Ware Shoals, SC 29692. A special thank you is extended to the staff at Windsor House, his grandchildren, Annalise and Tyler Gill and Jake McPeak, and special friends, Dee and Mandy Splawn.
