Carl Edward Howe Sr., 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at his home. Born May 23, 1922, in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Luster Alexander and Mamie Lee Olson Howe, and husband of the late Johnnie Belle Schrimpf Howe. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Howe was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 35 years of service. He was a charter member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are: his long-time companion, caregiver, and special friend, Rebekah Free; and son, Carl Edward Howe Jr. of Ruckersville, VA. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Danny Garrett and the Rev.
