Carl Thomas Cook Sr., 77, of Moore, SC, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born August 6, 1936, in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Luther Carl and Helen Theresa Fitzpatrick Cook. A U. S. Army veteran, Carl was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the American Legion, and Moose Lodge 2363. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betsy Hartman Cook; his children, Tracy Cook Slye of Forest City, NC, and Carl T. "Tommy" Cook, Jr. and wife Sandi of Moore, SC; four grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Norman of Atlanta, GA, Jean Johnson of Mint Hill, NC, Maryhelen Wood of Charlotte, NC; that little dog "Maddie"; and a very special friend, Gina Tate of Forest City, NC. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kenneth Charles Topping Jr. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2013, in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Rd., Moore, SC 29369, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
