Burkette Carver

Burkette Reed Carver, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at his home. Born September 5, 1925, in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of the late Burkett Reed Carver and Georgie Liner Carver, and husband of the late Janice Lee Carver. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Carver was a professional car salesman for most of his life. After retirement, he was a part-time accountant with M & R Granite Company. He was a graduate of The McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN and a graduate of the University of Chattanooga. Survivors include his children, Burkett Reed Carver III and his wife Joy of Albany, GA, Pamela Carver Whitt and her husband John R. of Boiling Springs, SC, and Janice Carver Sneed and her significant other Sean Henretty of Roebuck, SC; 8 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, William Lee Carver; and a granddaughter, Meredith Carver Pitts. A graveside service with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team, will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 28, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by his grandson, Mr. Reed Carver. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
