Buford Orr

Buford Blakely Orr, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at White Oak Estates. Born October 27, 1924, in Laurens, SC, he resided in Spartanburg for the last 52 years. He was the son of the late Beauford David Orr and Mary Kimmie Moore Orr Smith. A graduate of Laurens High School and Spartan School of Aeronautics, he was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Greenland. He and his wife owned and operated Orr Aviation at Spartanburg Downtown Airport and Shelby Aviation in Shelby, NC. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Annie Lee Orr; three daughters, Billi Orr Willauer and husband Chris of Spartanburg, SC, Kimi Orr Kauer of Atlanta, GA, and Babbs Orr Brown and husband Gene of Greenwood, SC; three grandchildren, Hayley Annelise Kauer, Brandon James Kauer, and Haden McCay Baker; and one sister, Mary Frances Gibbs of Columbia, SC. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Nazareth Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Dr. David Sutton. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nazareth Presbyterian Church, 680 Nazareth Church Road, Moore, SC 29369; or Spartanburg Downtown Airport Fund, c/o Children's Playground, 500 Ammons Road, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
