Oles Cline Womick, 87, of Spartanburg, died Friday, December 5, 2014 at his home. Born July 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Clines Herman Womick and Aliceteen Hawkins Lindsey. Buddy was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Spartanburg Junior College. After service with the U.S. Army and Navy during WWII, he settled into a long broadcasting career with a number of Upstate radio stations. He was the Director of Public Information for the City of Spartanburg between 1970 and 1990. Currently, he was a member of Executive Sertoma Club, and board member of Piedmont Interstate Fair. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Brown Womick of the home; three sons, Brad (Lee) Womick of Woodstock, GA; Steve (Martha) Womick of Pauline; and Greg (Shelley) Womick of Boiling Springs; three daughters, Dawn (Hank) Higgins, of Spartanburg; Lisa (Mike) Shea of Spartanburg; and Michelle (Gary) Anderson of Charlotte, NC. Grandsons and granddaughters, Bryan Womick, of Cleveland, TN; Tols Higgins (Rob) Sanborn of Spartanburg; Bo Higgins of Spartanburg; Elizabeth Higgins of Spartanburg; Sydney Shea, of Brooklyn, NY; Will Shea of Spartanburg; Carter Anderson of Charlotte, NC; Jimmie Anderson of Charlotte, NC; Matthew Womick of Boiling Springs; and one great-grandson Nolan Womick of Cleveland, TN. Visitation will be 2:00 - 2:45 pm Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church Parlor. A Celebration of Life memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 393 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Joanne Hull.
