Bryan Norris Teague, 33, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, at his residence. Born June 21, 1979, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Raymond M. Teague, Jr. of Spartanburg, and Rachel A. Teague and Oren Duncan of Jonesville, SC. Bryan was a well-known local musician and a talented upright and electric bass player. He toured and played with Barney Barnwell and the Plum Hollow Band from 1999 until the summer of 2006. Over the years, he was also a member of various groups such as Smilin' Jack, The Kennedy Street Band, The Marc Higgins Band, and High Brau. Aside from performing with various groups, he also performed a one-man show of comic originals along with entertaining and obscure covers. At the time of his passing he was a member of The China Bulls. He attended the Spartanburg Day School through the 5th grade, then Boiling Springs Middle School, and Chapman High School. Bryan was a gentle soul with a kind spirit who touched many lives through his humor and love of creating and playing music. He will be greatly missed by friends and fellow musicians. Bryan was a host of the open mic night at the Nu-Way Lounge on Kennedy Street. This Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 9:00 PM, the open mic night will be dedicated to his memory. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Teague of Jonesville; maternal grandmother, Helen Alexander of Jonesville; and paternal grandmother, Betty C. Teague of Inman. He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Raymond M. Teague, Sr.; and maternal grandfather, Fred A. Alexander. A celebration honoring Bryan's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Plum Hollow Farm, 5015 Rainbow Lake Road, Campobello, SC 29322. Friends and fellow musicians will be performing tributes. Please dress casual and bring a chair as Bryan would have wanted it that way. No flowers please, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
