Brooke Pappas

Ashley Brooke Pappas, 19, of 113 Cart Drive, died Sunday, April 18, 2010. Born April 15, 1991, in Roanoke, VA, and reared in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of Gregory "Greg" Michael Pappas, Jr. and Melissa "Lisa" Myrick Pappas. She was a graduate of Oakbrook Preparatory School where she was a member of the band. Brooke was currently a freshman at the University of South Carolina-Upstate and hoped to pursue a teaching career. She was a former student at Spartanburg High School where she played softball and participated in the marching band. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a former member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF), and a volunteer at The Anchor House at the Children Shelter. Brooke was a fun-loving teen who was full of life. In fact, one of her recent posts on Facebook was "Today is gonna be a good day. I love my life, family, and, of course, my friends. They are the bestest." Surviving in addition to her parents is a sister, Audra Pappas of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Derrick Pappas and Cameron Pappas, both of Spartanburg; paternal grandparents, Gregory and Pearl Pappas of Knoxville, TN; maternal grandparents, Donnie and Dallas Myrick of Carriere, MS; paternal aunts and uncles, Michael and Yvonne Pappas, Nola and Earl Harris, Tony Pappas, Sylvia and David Davidson, Tina and Howard York, Bill Pappas, Barb and Max Spurling, Eunice Pappas, Tonja and David Breaux; maternal aunts and uncles, Hugh Myrick, Jennifer and Chris Teal, Autumn and Michael Davis, Beth Myrick; and several loving cousins. Visitation will be 5:00-6:45 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Poston Hall at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand and the Rev. Neil M. Younge, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Anchor House, c/o Children Shelter of the Upstate, P. O. Box 2663, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
