Broadus Milton "Jack" Steadings, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at his home. Born August 9, 1931, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late John Landrum Steadings and Elmer McAbee Steadings. A veteran of the SC National Guard, Master Sergeant Steadings retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and coached the Men's and Women's softball teams. He was a member of Croft Ruritan and also served as captain of Croft Rescue #18 and helped with Sunday School at Mountainview Nursing Home. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Poston Steadings; children, Steve Steadings (Cynthia) of Seneca, SC, Melinda Mabry (Ozzie) of Pauline, SC, Kimberly Ledford (Dean) of Roebuck, SC, and Joy Harakas (Tim) of Spartanburg; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Roxie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Benjamin Milton Steadings. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Todd Lowe and Mr. Clary Smith. Burial with military rites by the SC National Guard will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
