July 31, 1918 — June 14, 2011

Broadus Winford Collins, 92, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born July 31, 1918, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Annie Hamrick Collins, and husband of the late Doris Louise Sellars Collins. Mr. Collins was a veteran of the U. S. Army, a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, attended Cecil's Business College, and retired from Reeves Brothers Textile Co. of Chesnee. Survivors include daughters, Nancy Atkins of Spartanburg, and Marcia Cowen (Ronald) of Toronto, Canada; sons, Kevin Collins (Nikki) of Inman, Richard Collins (June) of Campobello, Nelson Collins (Diana) of Buford, GA, and Garry Collins (Marcy) of Cooleemee, NC; grandchildren, Gracie Collins, Madison Collins, Mason Collins, Jarrod Collins, Justin Collins, Kara Atkins, Matthew Atkins, Brent Atkins, Craig Atkins, Amanda Cowen, and Leslie Cowen; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Harbaugh of Chesnee; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 17, 2011, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, by Lt. Col. Tim Atkinson. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
