Brian Davis, 76, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Brian died peacefully with his wife, Mary and their four children by his side. Brian was born to Anna Rita Rathbun and Richard Francis Davis, Jr. in the Bronx, NY and attended Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens, NY. After graduating from his beloved Fordham University, he met Mary Eileen Jacksta while she was a nursing student at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. After marrying in 1973, they started a family on Long Island, NY. For 47 years he was devoted to her and their children. He cherished his time as "Pops" and loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren. He spent his life serving others as a U.S. Marine, a reservist in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard, and in his long career with the U.S. Customs Service. He took great pride in teaching and mentoring, especially while an instructor at FLETC in Brunswick, GA. He retired in 2006 as the Assistant Port Director of Charleston, SC. He was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, whom he marched with in the St. Patrick's Day parade for years and served as a past President of the Manning Division in Charleston. Brian was known for his great story telling and sense of humor. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, rooting for Bishop England, watching Clemson football, going on mostly successful boat rides and a good pair of socks. Survivors include his wife Mary Eileen Jacksta Davis; daughters, Megan Davis Tolbert (Brian) and Erin Davis Hill (James) all of Spartanburg, SC; sons, Kevin Patrick Davis (Jacqueline) of Charleston, SC and Brian Xavier Davis (Amanda) of Matthews, NC; 10 grandchildren, Coleman, Mary Grace, Emma, Ty, Charlie, Lena, Camille, Julia, Ben and Josie; sisters, Mary Toman (Kevin) of Texas, Regina Titus of North Carolina, and Patricia Jackson of Ohio, and brother, William Davis (Jennifer) of New York. He was predeceased by brother, Richard Davis and sister, Anne Davis. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2021 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, conducted by The Rev. David R. Whitman.
