Brenda Leilani Scoggins Bridges, 62, of 2101 Runnymeade Lane, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Carolina's Medical Center. Born December 11, 1947 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Broadus Talmadge and Ruth Henderson Scoggins. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master's in English. She retired after 30 years of service as a teacher in Gaston County Schools, Lincoln County Schools and Gaston College. She was an avid movie buff and dramatist, a poet, and author. She had many dear and close friends. Survivors include a son, Harlan Christopher Markwalder and wife Jennifer of Maiden, NC; a daughter, Miriam Ruth Markwalder of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Victoria, Gabriel, and Ryan Markwalder, Danny and Liam McBride, and Balentin Solorzano; a sister, Laura S. Genois and husband Errol of Huntersville, NC; and a brother, Paul T. Scoggins of Lincolnton, NC. She was predeceased by a brother, Peter Daniel Scoggins. Brenda was very proud of her children and devoted to her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by family and friends. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex. The family will received friends following the service at the cryptside.
