Boyd Smith

Boyd Dean Smith, 66, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at his home. Born March 17, 1946, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Bomar Boyd Smith and Mabel Dean Finch Smith. He was a graduate of Roebuck High School and Spartanburg Methodist College. His hobbies included gardening and cutting grass. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Survivors include a sister, Nancy Smith Lineberry (Ben) of Pauline; nephews, Benji Lineberry (Carly) of Pauline and Marcus Lineberry (Angie) of Gaffney; great-nephews, Ben Lineberry, Josh Whitley, and Danny Whitley; great-nieces, Reese Lineberry and Morgan Whitley; and many cousins. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 10, 2012, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pauline, SC, conducted by the Rev. Joshua C. Jennings. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Family Life Center, P.O. Box 220, Pauline, SC 29374. The family is at the home of his sister, Nancy Smith Lineberry, 4650 Stone Station Road, Pauline, SC 29374. The family expresses gratitude to Debbie Ammons, a very special friend and caregiver for the nine years she helped care for Dean, and also thanks to Harold Graham and John Melton who came by several times weekly to sit and talk with Dean.
